Early History of the GCOM Winter Game Fest

For twenty years, GCOM Founder, Keith Levy, had celebrated his January Birthday with a one or two day open gaming event in his home at GCOM Reisterstown. Sometime around 2005, he had the idea to have a larger open gaming event in a public venue with more space. Since Keith wanted to have an event with free admission, it was difficult to find a venue with a low enough cost.

In 2008, Keith discovered and arranged to have a regular weekly GCOM session at a new location at Reisterstown: Hannah More in the Senior Center. Needing to establish ourselves and due to several personnel changes at the facility, it was not until 2012 that Keith got approval for an all day, two day weekend event. In 2013, the first GCOM Winter Game Fest took place at GCOM Reisterstown: Hannah More. Due to permanent changes in polices at the Reisterstown Senior Center, a venue change was made to the Rockville Senior Center in 2015.
